HIRING A HORROR COMPOSER FOR YOUR PROJECT
Stock and library tracks cover most horror content just fine – but some projects need a score built around them specifically: a feature film, a game with a distinct identity, a documentary that needs its own musical voice. That is where a custom composer comes in, and it is exactly what we do.
WHEN A PROJECT NEEDS A CUSTOM SCORE
Library music is fast and inexpensive because it is written once and licensed many times. A custom score is written once, for you – it can follow your picture cue for cue, build a musical identity unique to your project, and shift tone exactly when the story needs it. If your project is a flagship piece of work rather than one video among many, that difference matters.
We have scored feature films, the In Search of Darkness documentary trilogy, and game and trailer work built entirely around dread, tension and horror atmosphere – it is the only kind of music we write, so a horror project gets a composer who already thinks in that language rather than one adapting from somewhere else.
HOW A COMMISSION USUALLY WORKS
We start with a conversation about the project – tone references, timeline, budget and where the music needs to sit (temp score replacement, a handful of key cues, or a full wall-to-wall score). From there we scope the work and quote a fixed project fee, so there are no surprises partway through.
If your project already has a strong sound in mind and just needs tracks, our licensing catalog is often the faster and cheaper route. Custom scoring is for when the project needs music that exists nowhere else.
LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR PROJECT
Tell us what you are building and we will tell you honestly whether it needs a custom score.
