Jamie and Don have been friends since primary school in Derry, Northern Ireland. Somehow, they both became musicians as teenagers without ever once writing or playing together. What they did share, from the start, was an obsession with horror.
Don became a virtuoso pianist, teacher and filmmaker. Jamie left for Leeds College of Music to study film and TV scoring. Weary Pines was born one night when the two reconnected over dinner and admitted they’d both been thinking the same thing for years: why have we never written horror music together?
Their first proper job was scoring In Search of Darkness, and things have not really slowed down since. These days they are finishing their first album, which is, more or less, the exact music two kids in Derry would have made if they had had anything more than a keyboard, a broken guitar, and way too many horror VHS tapes.
